As soon as I put down the controller after finishing Insomniac's latest installment in the Spider-Men’s story, I knew that not only is this one of the best superhero games ever, but it’s also the best reason to buy a PS5. With truly next-gen graphics, great soundtracks, and the best open-world NYC, this game combines a satisfying, familiar combat system with a deeply immersive story and excellent characters. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is almost nothing short of perfect, filled with some of the best side content in gaming and new game plus features. This is a must-play game.
Fluid, Familiar, and Fun Combat

Spider-Man 2’s combat is refreshingly familiar yet inventive and fun. The combat system pleases newcomers with fluid motions and immaculate graphics while satisfying returning players with refreshed controls and classic Spider-Man quips during battles. New moves and an improved skill tree enhance the experience without diminishing the enjoyment.
Boss battles are layered with emotions due to the amazing story and are structured perfectly with bosses having unique moves and character dialogue, giving battles a more personal tone. Both iconic comic book characters and various enemy mobs add depth to the gameplay. The combination of well-thought-out mobs and emotionally charged boss fights creates a combat system you’ll have to enjoy.
An Incredible, Emotional Roller Coaster of a Story

Insomniac made waves in 2018 with Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 by delivering an incredible, emotion-driven narrative. This time, the stakes are even higher, with more emotional depth, complex character interactions, and themes of responsibility and relationships.
Without spoiling the story, I can tell you that players witness both Spider-Men facing unprecedented emotional struggles which showcase their motivations and personalities like never before. The narrative is so engaging that even the side missions—packed with their own compelling stories—could serve as the foundation for DLCs or a sequel.
Arguably The Best Open World NYC to Date

The attention to detail in Spider-Man 2’s NYC is astonishing. Every little and big thing is rendered well thanks to the PS5’s next-gen tech. With the addition of Queens and Brooklyn, Insomniac has doubled the size of their city simulation. The lifelike design, combined with iconic Marvel landmarks, such as FEAST, makes this one of the best representations of NYC in gaming history.
A Plethora of Excellent Suits and Features

With a compelling story and stunning graphics, you’d think Insomniac would forget the small flourishes, but they sure didn’t skimp on the little details. The game features numerous fantastic suits, with updates adding new ones. A powerful musical score complements each moment, enhancing the overall experience.
Moreover, the DualSense controller is utilized brilliantly, providing haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in the best possible way to deepen immersion throughout the game. Experiencing these features firsthand is a treat to enjoy.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 proves itself to be a sequel worth playing, whether you’re a long-time Marvel comics fan or a casual gamer. It elevates an already incredible PlayStation exclusive franchise and showcases the PS5’s hardware capabilities. With its fun combat system, top-notch graphics, groundbreaking storytelling, and immersive design, Spider-Man 2 cements itself as a masterpiece worth remembering.
